We moved to New York City!

NYC boasts over 1 million college students. While Manhattan has about 8 million residents and is 2 miles wide by 13 miles long, the combined populations of Baltimore, Dallas and Chicago commute into Manhattan every work day.  With over 22 million people in the metropolitan New York City area, NYC is the biggest city in the United States.

Dubbed by jazz musicians in the mid 20th century as The Big Apple, New York  City is known as the place to “make it big.”  People come to make their fortune, build their resume and prove their reputation.  The longing for a “designer lifestyle” drives people to extremes in the “City that Never Sleeps.”

More missionaries are willing to pack up their families, move halfway around the world and learn a new language than cross the Hudson River to minister to the people in New York City. In light of the need for qualified, trained and experienced staff, we packed our bags and moved to NYC.

Campus Crusade for Christ has nine different ministries in NYC, taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to the homeless as well as UN Ambassadors, to high school students, and young professionals, to professional athletes, artists and models.  Building transformational gospel communities in every segment of society is our goal so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus.

We’ll spend some of our time sharing the gospel with Latino and Hispanic students to surface the spiritually interested, resource them to grow in Christ and help them build life-long transformational gospel communities.  We hope to partner with local churches in this effort.

The other part of our time will be spent with the various NYC ministries, using our combined 33 years of ministry experience to help cover the staffing gaps, from helping to train new staff, to developing emerging leaders, to counseling staff, volunteers, students and lay professionals.

Our move to NYC was unexpectedly quick, and clear evidence of God’s choreography at work.  Click here to see the story as written in our January 2011 prayer letter.
