Helping to fulfill the Great Commission in Matthew 28 is our overarching mission. We long to see everyone know someone who truly follows Jesus. We work with Campus Crusade for Christ, a global mission agency started in 1951 on the UCLA campus. More than 50 years later, CCC has over 25,000 staff in 191 countries around the world. As a charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, CCC is consistently rated by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 3 religious non-profits for use of funds.
Each missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ, including our president, Dr. Steve Douglass, is responsible for raising 100% of their personal and ministry expenses. CCC does not have a central fund to pay the salaries of their missionaries. When someone joins our team as a ministry partner, their financial gifts go into our staff account, rather than a general fund. Out of that CCC staff account, we are able to draw our salary, paying our rent, other living expenses, as well as ministry expenses like resources and materials that we give to students and travel for conferences and events.
With more than 1 million college students in NYC, we can’t do this alone. Our ministry is a partnership. We partner with women and men who make time to pray regularly for us and our ministry concerns and give regularly out of what God has given them.
Having been on staff for so long (Mike for 19 years, Sarah for 14 years), we’ve seen God provide for all of our needs for years. We have a history of trusting God and seeing the Body of Christ give joyfully to the work God appointed us to do. With this new call to New York City, we need to raise additional monthly support since the cost of living in the Big Apple is so high. We could spend more money in rent next year than we made this year!
